About Me
I am an Accredited Specialist in Family Law and the creator of Marr Family Lawyers.
I have extensive experience in dealing with family law matters involving a wide range of family law issues.
I am compassionate and approachable. I listen. Then, I provide thorough, practical and realistic advice in plain English.
I work hard and have an eye for detail.
When I am not taking care of clients, I am spending time with my family (when we can, in our caravan), socialising with friends, or doing CrossFit workouts (totally improving my tough factor, right?!)
I am an Accredited Specialist in Family Law and the creator of Marr Family Lawyers. I have worked as a family lawyer since being admitted to practice in 2008.
My Experience
Since graduating from the University of Wollongong, I started my career at a local Wollongong based law firm. Then, I spent most of my career (for almost 10 years) working in the family law division at a national firm, based in Sydney CBD. Progressing to Partner, meant I gained experience working with some of the most highly regarded barristers, forensic accountants, financial planners, psychologists, psychiatrists and other professionals in the country. Working alongside these experts has not only deepened my knowledge about their respective areas of expertise, but it has enabled me to have a broader understanding how such areas can have implications in a family law dispute.
I have great experience in resolving property settlement matters of varying wealth, including matters that have complex business structures (including trusts), undisclosed assets and assets held in overseas jurisdictions.
I have been involved in parenting disputes where there are issues of family violence, drug taking, alcohol dependence, mental illness, parent alienation, and sexual assault allegations. I have also represented parents seeking to relocate, who have children with special needs or have held their children unlawfully overseas.
I acknowledge it is ideal to resolve a dispute as quickly and as amicably as possible, with a view that a resolution can be reached prior to the legal costs escalating and importantly, prior to potential irretrievable damage caused to the family relationships.
I have advised clients negotiating directly with their spouse and represented clients at “round table” conferences, mediation and conciliation conferences, resulting in agreements being made.
It is not always possible to resolve a family law dispute by consent, especially if there are issues that need to be urgently dealt with or serious allegations are made. In such cases, a judicial decision may be required. I am a strong advocate in such matters that go to court and have had substantial experience in running hearings at interlocutory stages and instructing counsel at both interim and final hearings.
